First one has better specs, asid eform the CPU, it supports better ram and comes with a decent Video Card as opposed to the second with Integrated (I think Nforce4 is) that and better software to boot also the Windows XP CD which is awesome to have instead of a recovery CD.

Given that it only supports 2GB RAM and 100 GB HDD, Max RAM you need is only 2GB pretty much anymore is overkill. and You can always upgrade the HDD pretty cheap so, yeah the first one.

 

The Acer is the one I would go with!!

Personally I am an AMD, and ACER makes pretty good budget systems, but there was also some conflicting information in the specs and highlights sections of the Compaq. I'm not saying that compaq is bad, but things just didn't lookappealing to me as far as that particular system build.

Pretty good looking system for the dollar. And just so you know...I would hope you figured out that it doesn't come with that flat panel monitor!!

id go for the ACER also. I doubt any of those video chipsets would play Guild Wars very well but at least it has an open pci-express slot so you can put in a modern video card. Ive got an acer laptop and its awesome and ive heard nothing but crap about compaq systems. semprons are better than celerons anyway and you get 60 extra gigs of hard drive space. however the compaq does use DDR2 memory but i doubt you'd see a difference with that level of a system. Your first upgrade should be to add another 512 RAM as it would increase performance the most. next would be a video card, a 6600gt is a good budget card.

 

I should be able to play it on low settings without much lag right?

I know i'll hit some in crowded cities but as long as I can pvp ok, its fine for now.

 

its in the cities where it can get bogged down but as soon as u enter a zone it cleans up quite well.

 

Im intending to do mostly pvp after I get the hang of it anyway.

I may get it tonight so i'll let you guys know.

 

Looking back...I see where my statement could be misunderstood as only refering to the one system, but as usual, my mind and my fingertips short circuit occasionally and that was supposed to refer to both systems not coming with the monitor!!
