    Hi gang...........
I am sharing a Dial Up internet connection between two XP PCs using ethernet crossover cable, it works fine.

But I cant figure out how to transfer files from one PC to another.
I can see how it should be possible to transfer a file from the server to the other PC. Is it also possible to transfer a file from the other PC to the server?

Could a movie that is sitting on the server be played on the other PC?

I dont know how to do these things, can you tell me how??
    tnx

I'm not absolutely sure but I believe that file sharing via a crossover works the same over a network via a router. A detailed Word document can be downloaded from Microsoft on File and Printer Sharing with Microsoft Windows.

Yes, once file sharing is set up, you can transfer files from one computer to the other, or simply open files on another computer if you have the proper software on the computer from which you're working. And, printer sharing allows a printer to be shared among multiple computers.

    Hi & tnx for info.
I am now set up to do everything I wanted and it works fine. :cool

I figured out how to set ZoneAlarm Pro on the server so that it accepts me sharing my web connection,
    so that part is ok.

However when I have ZoneAlarm Pro running on the server it throws a fit and blocks everything, like if Im watching a movie on the other PC that is stored in the server ZoneAlarm stops the movie in mid stream, and logs a whole bunch of intrusions. I can just shut down ZoneAlarm, but I want ZoneAlarm working if I want to go on the web while I watch the movie.
How can I have ZoneAlarm protect me from the web without having a fight with my little network?
    :confused
    tnx

I'm not familiar with ZoneAlarm, so I can't give a precise answer to your question about it. Surely, there must be some settings in it somewhere that will make it stop blocking your access to the other computer. This might be helpful: http://www.markusjansson.net/eza.html

    I figured it out.
I had trusted zone set to high, thats why it blocked everything.
It was spoze to be set to medium.
Now that its set to medium everything works fine.
    :D

    tnx
