 If one was to get 'into' the computer to rid of unwanted stuff, what do you delete and what do you keep? I mean when you click onto my computer and then onto add/remove programs. There are the ones of course you recognize, but other ones are like........ what is this? I usually know some are of no use, they say rarely used and I recognize them as nothing important. I guess my basic question is what should stay on other than your ones you use all the time? Are there any that if I click onto remove will make the computer go goofy or not work right? Thanks again in advance for your help:) Oh, I have windows XP 2000

YOu should leave things like HotFixes. Or Updates.

Are there any specific ones you are unsure about ?

For starters, ArcSoft Software Suite, DLA, Interactual Player, Macromedia Flashplayer 8 { this one, always has a stupid pop up that states, 'something is interfering with it from playing'?}, PC Doctor for Windows,{I think I downloaded this one, not sure} PS2, Quuicktime, Record Now Update Manager, Virtual Warfare, and 9 of the Windows XP Hotfixes, {SPI} you mentioned not to remove.

ArcSoft Software Suite is some kind of Cd editing and cd recording tool.

    DLA? - need more info

InterActual Playes is a DVD player software, if you have another one like cyberlink you can remove this.

Flashplayer is needed to view flash object on a webpage. 8 is out dated anyway uninstal it and instal the latest version from Adobe

PC Doctor ? I can reccomend some other tools for keeping your computer clean anyway, which are probably better

    PS2 ? More info

Quicktime, cannot be uninstalled without removing itunes.

Record now update manager ... (Part of sonic record now ? ) probably another cd dvd burning engine

Vitual Wrafare I assume is a game, if you don't play it remove it.

    Leave the hotfixes

Depends what software you woudl still use? if you think you will not use it then un-install.. so long as you still have the original CD/DVDs then they can always be installed again.

ArcSoft Software Suite.... Photo Manipulation Software IIRC
DLA... Is Drag and Drop CD Burning, part of Record Now from Sonic/Roxio. ( would keep this if it were me )
Macromedia Flashplayer 8 ... has been updated to version 9 ( so remove and get latest if you wish to view webpage animations )
    PC Doctor... Malware scanner.
PS2 ( Photoshop CS2 )... well if you have installed a $600+ software package I guess you know how to use it and need it?

Quicktime... again if you wish to view QT films and audio you will need this.
Virtual Warfare... can only guess at a game, if you dont play it remove it.

Record Now... CD burning app.. if you have more than 1 CD burning app choose the best, but if this is your only one keep it.

@ Matt you read my mind ;)
