What Setup Works For Ps4 Remote Play?

As noted in the title, the aim is to make use of PS4 remote play in my garage but I have a long history of failure in this respect. You may wish to skip the next paragraph that explains what I have done so far but you should know that I set everything up on my PS4 according to the PS support page.

The first step I took was to buy a PS Vita but I quickly found I wasn't a fan of the tiny screen and controls. I then tried my laptop but the connection in my garage was poor (even though the distance is quite minimal) so I bought a repeater. This did some good to boost the signal downstairs (my router and home PC are upstairs) but was of little use in the garage where Remote Play was either very weak or totally inaccessible. I then bought a second repeater, thinking that, if placed carefully, they could sustain the connection. Nope. Little or no difference. I then bought a weatherproof ethernet cable with the plan being to trail it from my office upstairs right down to the garage where it would connect with one of my repeaters that works as an Access Point. Now maybe I didn't set this up properly but it still didn't work. I then realised that my old Macbook had an ethernet port so I went ahead and downloaded the appropriate software, set everything up and then connected the weatherproof cable between my router and the Macbook. Although this seemed to improve the connection, Remote Play itself was still very, very weak or useless. In desperation, I even tried connecting a third ethernet cable from my router to the PS4 (which stands next to it) which also made no difference. Therefore, as Remote Play works on all devices when I'm next to the router, it surely has to be something to do with the connection.

Does anyone know if there is something I need to be doing to get Remote Play working in my garage as I honestly can't see where I'm going wrong and am sick of spending money just to get nowhere? I figured it would be something to do with connecting or configuring the cable from my router to my Macbook but I'm not sure. Any help would be gratefully received.

    Thanks.
