"Pheonix ROM BIOS PLUS version 1.10 A0S

    Dell Sysem Dimsion 2400 Series
    BIOS version A0S

    Diskette drive 0 seek failure
    Primary drive 0 not found
    Primary Drive 0 not found
Strike the F1 key to continue , F2 to run the setup utility."

That is exactly what it say....i've gone into the Setup Utility and I don't see anything really wrong with it....but I am not completely sure....any help?

Go into bios[setup] and set defaults. Looks like nothing is being reconized. Is everything on the board pluged in?, both ide cables and the floppy cable? ed

Definitely check your cables. Disconnecting the power cable to the drives will result in this type of start-up error. Sometimes the floppy power cable is daisy-chained off the hard drive power cable. If you find it is still plugged in, unplug it and examine the pins. Make sure none of the pins has been pushed back. You could also change it for another power supply lead.( there may be a spare one dangling). :)

I have not check inside the computer as of yet. But i have gone to the setup and hit F9 to restore the defaults...that would be how i do it right? then I tried to boot a few times after that and keep getting the same response....have been sitting here going back and forth from computer to computer trying new things as i find them...and nothing at all seems to be working. = \ Also when I do go into the setup it says:

    Drive Config>

    Diskette Drive A:.....Not installed

    Primary Master Drive......Unknown Device
    Primary Slave Drive........Off
    Secondary Master Drive...CD-Rom Device
    Secondary Slave Drive.....CD-Rom Device

    IDE Drive UDMA........On

    Boot Sequence>

    1.(Checked) IDE CD-ROM Device
    2.Hard Disk drive(not installed)

There are two qick beeps when the first error message i posted appears.

Also was wondering when I hit F9 to restore the defaults. Should there be a promt or anything that comes up to confirm it? I get nothing at all and it seems like nothing changes. It doesn't even ask me if I want to save when I exit. Which it usually does once something is changed in there.

Well, I opened it up and the first thing I saw was a MASS of Dust! lol Its a friends computer so of course it hasn't been cleaned out....EVER! then once I cleaned all the dust out...I found that there were 2 power plugs dangling on the daisy-chain BEFORE the HD. The HD was the one on the end of the line. Disconnected that one and connected it to the closested one coming from the power supply. automatically after booting it back up after that...it did not work...but in the setup I noticed that now it was no longer "Primary Master Drive......Unknown Device" but it was "Primary Master......Hard Drive".

Also, the boot sequence had changed a little

    Boot Sequence>

    1.(Checked) IDE CD-ROM Device
    2.Hard Disk drive(not installed)

is what it was before....after it was

    Boot Sequence>

    1.(Checked) IDE CD-ROM Device
    2.Hard Disk drive

So, I checked the Hard Disk Drive and moved it up to Slot 1. instead of the IDE CD-ROM Device....after a reboot the computer booted normally and is now running fine. Thanks alot for the help guys really appreciate it. Also, thanks for the quick responces! = ]
