What Software To Synchronize And Append A Drive To Another Of Exact Same Size ?

    Hi,
I have internal drives on Win 7 64bit pro PC. (due for win 10 makeover very soon) D drive for my data and O drive for its backup. over 500,000 files on D.
D has just given an I/O error and explorer wouldnt scan it. Oh OH !!!!

I wish to obtain a prog that runs on win 7 64 bit pro (free if poss else a one off fee) that will do the following:-

    1. Allow me to select the Drive letter as what I want as the source, not ask me to select a folder on it ! Then select the drive letter for the destination. Again not have to make and name a folder. THE DRIVES WHEN VIEWED SHOULD LOOK EXACTLY LIKE EACH OTHER.

    2. Initially copy all files across to O drive, ( O already has a backup made a few yrs ago on it using one of those below or another one, not sure what I used) , and append any that get changed on D to O, and copy any newly made ones to O. So it must be happy to srat working with existing files on O.

    3. Do so at end of day, not whilst I am working., then shut down PC., and also whenever I tell it to during day.

    4. Verify any files copied to O to ensure the copy is functional.

So what prog does this 1 to 4 ?

I see a video of one (ViceVersa Pro) but the guy selects a folder for source. Their blurbs talk of synching and backup of folders, oh dear,.. I need to select the drive letter each time for source and destination, and need a one way synch D to O, not a folder.

I see I have tested the following in the past, I was never happy with any as selecting the drives and counting what files and file size they had, they differed. I expected it all to match. Then I get told thats normal .

EaseUS EverySync 3 unable to see if it does item 1 or any in fact of 1-4.
AllwaySync max file allowed 40K so my 500K breaks that rule.
GoodSync says select source folders and create and name the destination folder, breaks rule 1.
ViceVersa Pro (video as mentioned says choose folder)

What is there I should use that does 1 to 4 ? A very useful ask for many folk as such a backup is so important.

    Cheers.

    Robocopy source destination / switches
    Open CMD, type robocopy d:\ o:\ /s /XD $RECYCLE.BIN "System Volume Information" /R:1
This wlould copy d: to o: with subdirectories, excluding recycling and system volume, on errors give one retry.
You can put that in notepad and save it as drivecopy.bat & run it when you need or schedule it.
You can do a lot more like keep a log file, you can Google for more info.
    Robocopy GUI - https://www.snapfiles.com/screenshots/robomirror.htm - has a scheduling tool.

    Also I've used https://www.cobiansoft.com/cobianbackup.html

    Hi,
I have looked at cobian wensite, it wants to use my personal data for things, scared off.
I tried FreeFileSync and it showed many files for deletion with mirror, so right click copy to and make sure I have these incase any should be kept. I look at folders and they were empty ! had to copy paste the entire drive out took 1.5 days.
Tried SyncBackSE and that also showed files for deletion but offered no save out option, it will save in, but thats no good as then the drive is full before mirror occurs and no space to run command.

I used SyncBackSE for the mirror, and it left behind 700 files !
I used FreeFileSync and it showed them, then I have to use win explorer select all and properties to see if they truly did copy across, and source and destination then matched, ABOUT TIME !

    useless progs,

COME ON its 2022 there has to be a prog that does a dependable mirror. and will copy out folders AND CONTENTS.

this is good to do, backups etc, yet nothing exists to take one drive to another daily or whenever I fancy appending new and modded files.

and now another internal drive has vanished, then reappeared after reboot, so again I need to do an urgent backup but still have nothing dependable.
Last lot took an entire week, with useless progs, and now to do it all over again.

I'm a bit confused. Did FFS work or not? I've been using it for years, without issues.

Hi, with FreeGileSync doing what it did,
<<I tried FreeFileSync and it showed many files for deletion with mirror, so right click copy to and make sure I have these incase any should be kept. I look at folders and they were empty ! had to copy paste the entire drive out took 1.5 days>>

    I cant trust it.
