What surveillance program is this?

Ok, I'm not one who likes to leave a trail. Every couple of hours I always delete my history, cookies, temporary files, etc, I never have my IMs and chats set to "record" and I never save them to a file on my computer, and I dont check "remember me" on ANYTHING! Basically, I like to keep my business and personal issues my own and like to seclude it from anyone I wouldn't want seeing/reading it. With my constant deleting, I thought I was safe.... so I thought.

Well, I recently caught someone I know on my computer, and for some reason this person was viewing every thing I had typed, chatted, said, viewed, etc, over the past several days ranging from very personal chats with close friends to account passwords and other personal information among other things, stuff I do NOT want others reading or viewing. The culprit got out of it before I could see what program was being used, and when I asked what it was, the person only responded with "someone at work told me about it. it's a program on the computer." This person will not say anymore about it. I don't fear this individual stealing my identity or anything, its just annoying that this idiot knows how to sneak behind my back and be be nosy about everything I do and become a private spectator to my personal affairs; I can't stand the feeling that I can't do anything without it getting recorded by this thing, and it just grinds my gears when this individual brings up stuff me and my buddies talk about when I thought I had deleted those conversations weeks ago.

Like anyone else in my situation, I am very angry about this and tried to find the program that the individual was using, but to no avail. I at first thought it was a keylogger, and asked some individuals on the myspace forums about my situation and they offered me programs that were supposed to detect keyloggers, but the programs found nothing. They did tell me to remove somthing called "nortons", which I'm assuming is the free trial of Norton Antivirus that came with my recent laptop. The said free trial has ended and so I thought that it simply ceased to function, but I guess that's not so according to these guys.

I can no longer access MySpace, or most of my other online forums and chat sites, as well as some informational sites like wikipedia and nearly all search engines due to further treachery on my intruder's part (damn Bsafe...). Pretty much only google and a few other sites work for me, and through some effort I came across this site and I must say I might be a frequent visitor since I am very stunted in my advanced computer skills.

Anyways, getting back to my subject, would any of you know what program was initially monitering me? From what I saw, it looked like either a fast slide show or a video recording of my computer activities being fast fowarded. Other than the tiny bit of info from the person who was spying on me, I got nothing on this irritating little program.

Any help, input, tips, tutorials, etc would be GREATLY appreciated.

Some advice - have this person tell you the password they used for Bsafe so that you can go in and give yourself full access to the internet once again, and also uninstall the Bsafe application if this was something they installed on your machine without your permission.

Secondly, I saw in another thread you are using Vista so set yourself up with a login password so this person cannot access your computer without your permission. There have to be consequences to actions of this sort that violate privavcy and trust, so do not feel unjustified in doing this.

Hopefully someone else will advise you as to the monitoring software that may have been used, as I do not know. Check all your instant messengers though to make sure they did not reset these to record your conversations to file without your knowledge.

Ok, I know how to remove bsafe thanks to another thread on this site.

But I still have no clue as whats recording my every action on the computer (ive even heard it moniters non net stuff like what dvds are being viewed, what games you play, etc).

Now I have a theory that since said individual heard about this thing at their place of employment, my guess is that it's a workplace surveillance program.

So Im asking you guys, what are all the known workplace spying programs and how does one manually hunt down and remove these things from his computer?

Thanks in advance for any tips.

You want people here to help you interfere with the legal exercise of parental rights? Hmmm...

Innocent until proven guilty. You have no place to accuse others of wrongdoing here until you have such proof.

If a program is saving everything you do on and off the web, it would have to store it somewhere. Try doing a search in Explorer (assuming you have XP). Do a search on files modified today, and search hidden folders.

You might want to run CCleaner right before you search ( http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4191.html), I tried it and got 1500 files on mine, after CCleaner I got 300 or so. Now the hard part, find the one storing the info, and back track it to a program. Kinda hit and miss, but you might get lucky.

If you suspect a keylogger, check out this post by studiot (#30) here: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=152978&page=2
