What the heck is this thing??

Im not sure if this is a software "problem" but it made the most sense to put it here.

The other day I noticed that my recycle bin looked a little funny... there is this funny shape underneath it and I can't figure out why its there, how it got there and is it harmful or what. Its been about a week or two since it showed up and i just wondered if anyone knew what or why or how its there... Thanks

 

Does the shape change when you put stuff in the bin?

 

no, it stays the same.

 

Did you install any software about the time you first noticed it? Sometimes certain security apps will add a 'gizmo' to the Recycle Bin icon, as do some desktop graphic 'enhancement' programs (like the programs that give the user fancy animated pointers and hourglasses and pretty desktop 'theme' type stuff)..... Is the 'bin' the only icon with a new 'gizmo' stuck to it?

 

actually yes... I installed Paint Shop Pro about two weeks ago and yes the recycle bin the the only one with it. If PSP is what caused it, Is there a way I can get rid of that stupid "symbol"?

 

If you right click the bin, does one of the options mention Paint Shop?

 

yea, it says "browse with Paint Shop Pro"

geez shoulda checked that myself LOL

 

There you go.... unless the little 'gizmo' bothers you that bad, I'd just leave it alone. There may be a setting in PSP that will get rid of it, maybe not; or the setting may be something that you overlooked when installing the program..... at least we figured it out
