Ohh. Uh-oh. Thanks, Eldon. Sorry, our internet connection went out all day yesterday and then today my other half woke up with the flu. Luckily he throws off bugs like that in about 4 hours' time usually, and he's already looking a bit better, so I hope to find time to do battle with the Trinh thingy shortly. Wish he could vanquish the computer bugs as easily as his immune system squashes the organic ones, but unfortunately it's going to have to be me. Fortunately for me, however, I have a virus-free PC to work from (thanks to MG) so I'll be back!

Thanks plodr. Wonder why I have it? I will look into that. Never heard of PepperPlayer flash plugin.

Searching for an answer I also came across a lot of Vietnamese links.
In your image there's also FutureSplash Player. FutureWave was bought by Macromedia almost 20 years ago.

Thanks, Eldon. I started Kaspersky running a full scan. I can't understand what this stuff is.

Oooops. Did I "report" your post just now? Poking around to see if you had attached something. Sorry! Didn't mean that.

I tried on an avatar of the Holland Land Purchase map of Western New York. Not too sure about flaunting my genealogical persuasions, but I could always change my mind. Appreciate your offering, though.

    No problem, you didn't.
I still think you should visit the Malware Removal forum. Those people are simply the best and will help you get rid of all the nasty things.

I know, aren't they great? Those guys are some of my favorite humans. I'll try to do that tomorrow when I'm fresher (and hopefully my OH will have got better). Glad I didn't inadvertently report you.

Okay, I have to finally deal with this. I've had the iMac turned off while I get on with my life, but having it unavailable is becoming inconvenient. So what do I do next, please? I have a feeling Eldon's suggestion to put this in the malware forum might be right. Assuming anyone else agrees with that, is it better if I create a new thread there or can someone move this for me? Thanks.

:( We only provide malware removal help for Windows-based operating systems.

Thanks, Dr. Moriarty. So I'm not crazy. I did page through the malware removal forum endlessly looking for anything Mac and wondered if I was blind, but I couldn't see anything. That's 'cause it wasn't there.

    Pondering my next move.

EDIT: Anyone want to venture an opinion whether simply uninstalling Chrome is a good idea or a bad one?

Google Chrome is terrible for being hit with redirects and pop up's, it's not a browser I would use or reccommend personally.

I hear you, Kestrel. I saw where somebody on an Apple support forum said "Google Chrome is rapidly becoming malware" so I'm going to have to find out how to get rid of it thoroughly. Think it's going to have to come off my PC too. I don't like it anymore. Way too invasive.

I also have to look and see if any tentacles of the MacKeeper that wormed its way on there a while ago might have survived and roared back.

Writing these notes here so I can remember where I left off. For now the Mac can just sit there stony cold and brain dead. Thing's doing my head in. Slept for hours this evening curled up in a chair and I need to go to bed and stretch out now. Thanks very much for your input.
