Here is my problem now: a couple of days ago my son tried to install in the SLAVE hdd UBUNTU (He did that before without any trouble), but this time he messed (I guess) the MBR; I decided to make a fresh install in another brand new HDD and now I got a message: IDE DRIVES INSTALLATION ERROR

For best reliability & performance, please change the stand alone slave drive to master. System Halt...

Of course, the jumpers are in master. I chequed that drive with the store where I got it and they said that it is OK (they format it), but still the same message. What else could it be wrong???:cry

I though of that and I did!!! Now, that says: CMOS/NVG (or something like that) wrong, press F1 or F2. But, any of my KB and/or ,mouse works (USB or PS2), is there any way to overcome this just for awile???:confused

try going into bios and setting to failsafe settings then save and exit. also try optimized. couldnt hurt.
One more thing did it say cmos/gpnv check sum error? if so set your date and time to correct date and time in bios then reboot see what happens :p
