    confused Hello there,

I recently purchased one of those camera/printer bundle kits - HP Photosmart 8050 with HP M525 Camera. I haven't used either very much - mostly because I can't figure the camera out. Before I get to the big question, I know that the camera has an internal memory, but exactly how many photos can it hold? It has 6 pixels - don't know anything about that stuff so bear with me.

The real problem is this - I installed the HP software that came with the printer, I did not install anything for the camera because it looked kind of redundant to me. I have Win2K, only 20MB HD, 256 Ram, and a 1.3 Ghz processor. Due to the small HD, I'm quite concerned because HP software takes a lot of space. However, I have the Photo Editor from Microsoft, along with Roxio which takes photos as well. Is there a way I can get rid of the HP software? I know I need the drivers, but is it necessary to have all the extras as well? I've uploaded a couple of pictures I had on my computer to Photobucket to save space. At that time, I was using PhotoFiltre freeware. So, please help me clear up my HD a little?

Also, I ran my IObit Advanced Windows Care yesterday and it came up with all kinds of references on my security scan to CoolWeb, but Cool Web Shredder was in the same line, also Alexis, Maria, etc. I just told it to repair and immunize or whatever it does. I know this is off the topic of photo editing, but I wanted to put it in here so as not to double post. If you think I should, I'll move it elsewhere. The thing is, I'm not sure if this was the first scan after installing the HP software, but I had added some extensions to my Firefox and it was the first one after that. I read the post here about the security issue, so should I do the workaround or wait until a new version comes out and just keep scanning? I'm not sure about registry stuff. I guess using HJT wouldn't hurt either?

Sorry this turned out to be such a long thread and I sure appreciate any help you can offer.

You cant avoid loading the camera software if you have intentions of taking photos and getting them from the camera to the computer. As for the memory the camera has default memory but depending on the settings you choose will change the number of pics it can hold additional memory cards can be purchased that will hold loads of pictures you also can opt to purchase a memory stick then load your pics to the computer to manipulate or print but store them on the memory stick instead of your hard drive.

As for your choice of pic software its up to your preference.

Hi, thanks for the reply. It says on the instructions that I can't install the camera software after the printer software. I guess that is where I screwed up. But, the way I figure it, suppose someone gets a printer like mine first, but doesn't have the camera yet, what does he/she do? Or for that matter, suppose someone has the camera, but no printer?

And what about the drivers for the printer? I know there are a lot of photoediting freeware programs. This is the type of camera that can run through the printer without a computer, but I need to run have the pics on my hard drive. I know I had gotten a disposable camera and it came with a CD so that I could put the pics on the HD. Is that any help?

Sorry, but I'm still confused. I guess that's what I needed you to look into, the printer software.

Thanks so much for your quick reply.
