   How do I determine the version of USB on an XP machine?

   In Device Manager, look under Universal Serial Bus controllers.
   
   If it says "enhanced" somewhere, then it's USB 2.0 capable.
   
   If not, then it's USB 1.1.
   
   However, to enable USB 2.0 with XP, you must install SP1 or greater.
   
   XP on it's own doesn't include USB 2.0 drivers.
