what would be required?

i started to put this in buy/sell but i was not sure where it belonged. I run my own site and we have a download section, but everyone wants to get files for free and not click or view any ads

what i want to do is force ppl to click an ad before they can download, im unsure what language would be required. also i would be interested in hiring someone to do it, can anyone point me in the right direction?

I'm not able to hire out to do the work right now, but here's some thoughts:

For downloads, set up registration (if not already) so you know who's downloading what (not really "know" - just by username). Give everybody some credits, like 3 free downloads for example. Allow people to build credits by clicking through your ads, that way they might be willing to see what you're offering.

Keep in mind a few things (my opinion only):

* Are you offering files that they can't get elsewhere for free?
* Are your ads offering something that your clientele would actually be interested in and find helpful?

I think if you expect to make a profit from any business, your customers must want what you offer, and feel they are getting "what they pay for". In your case, their "pay" is apparently their time and some of their bandwidth, rather than cash. Even so, many people will not want to do it. Lots of people, especially younger folks, seem to be unwilling to pay for anything these days, and have no hesitation to steal stuff if they can.
So you have some choices to make. If you offer enough "good" stuff for free, especially if it's not available at a zillion other sites, then your site traffic will become high, and you can sell adspace based on your traffic alone. If you rely on click-throughs, lots of customers will look elsewhere. People don't want to be bothered.

That's my view. Doesn't mean it's right.
