So it started off like any other Monday, I got on the school bus, and was going to school, until about halfway there, our busdriver got a message via radio that there was an "issue" and he was going to have to drop everyone off again at their houses. Just as we were dropping off the people that just got on, another radio message came in that we were to keep everyone on, and drop off all the elementary kids at a nearby church. After dropping them off, we just kind of sat there. Everyone kept asking, "What's going on??", and the busdriver just kept on saying that he didn't know. After about 5 or 10 minutes later, the busdriver got a radio message that he was to drop all the highschool kids off at the local hockey arena. We made a stop at a gas station so he could fill up the bus. While we were there, standing out in the cold, wondering what the hell was going on, he explained to us that there was a bomb threat and we were to wait here until further notice. So we waited. 20 minutes later, we finally got instructions on what to do, the busdriver was to take all the highschool students to a local daycare center to wait. Halfway to the daycare center, the busdriver got ANOTHER radio message that they were just going to cancel school, and he would have to pick up the elementary kids from the church and bring everyone home. So, here I am...

it was about the shortest school day in the history of the world

I agree What? Doesn't the bus company have a contingency plan for instances like this? I bet you that they will have one tomorrow after parents hear about this fiasco. Darn lame dispatcher if you'd of asked me.

Around here, the buses are actually run by the school itself. And city workers are not the brightest or most motivated of people around here either.

Can't be too careful now days with all the nuts heading to the nearest school whenever something goes wrong in their life and shooting as many innocent people they can. Hope it's all a hoax and your back to normal tomorrow.
Although keep a watchful eye on anyone who makes such threats. they just may carry them out.

The dispatcher was more than likely NOT the one deciding what they would do, but rather following orders from either the school or the police. They may well have a contingency plan, but the authorities probably overrode that "in the interest of public safety" or some such nonsense. Or the plan depends on where the bus is in the route.

What I find fascinating is that elementary and high school kids are on the same bus at the same time. Around here, elementary and high schools don't start or end at the same time (they're about an hour off) and they keep the little kids separate from the big kids.

Sounds like an interesting day to me speculant much better than taking classes I imagine?Keep us updated with news of the bomb threat story.

In high school I used to make pipe bombs and sell them, some just fizzed and made smoke so I thought the older kids were gonna kill me but they loved them and came back for more:D "crazy times!"

We used to have a wicked bus driver in high school he new most of us by name he was just like one of our friends just fifty and smoked a pipe:D When we got on the straight part of the road we'd start chanting his name and he's floor the bus see how fast we could go,I kid you not.
