What'cha doin for The New year?

I'll go first. In the old days, this meant going out on the town, maybe getting a hotel room, but definitely getting wasted in the worst possible way. If you didn't get drunk on this Eve, you just weren't with it.

Then it evolved more into spending it with friends and sharing a meal of lobster, some good beer and wine, and maybe some games.

Now, after two marriages and divorces, it will mean cozying up with some sippin scotch, (I prefer Johhny Walker Black label), and watching some good movies. Highly unlikely to be awake at midnight, but that's okay. It's not really that big of a deal and it'll just be nice to have a long weekend again.

Whatever you all are doing, just don't drink and drive, and this advice comes from the former king of drinking and driving. I used to say I had to drive because I was too drunk to walk. I actually used to have to close one eye when I was driving in order to eliminate the double vision! Scary and I'm damn lucky to be here.

    Hi BrandyP

Yeah I used to do the going into the city and getting wasted, walking home at silly o'clock as there where no taxi's at 3am+ in the morning or none free.

Normally just stay at home now or goto friends for a party, this year I think I may stay at home and drink a little and eat nibbles, normally UK TV has a program called Jools Hollands Hootenanny show on which is really good and in its 15th+ year iirc. or this link with past shows and artists not a full list but a taster.

I was going to be at my GF apartment for New Years. We were going to have few over and drink. And Ill probably continue to play real money poker online that day. Also side note to the drinking and driving. I drank every weekend from 9th grade and up, and I never drove once even if I had sips (everyone thought I was weird even with 2 sips). But I never drove.. anyways few years ago I was a passenger off a drunk guy and got in a 1 car accident and lost my job and now stuck with the bills if I want hospital help. But I refuse to go to hosipital cause of the amount of money. So I live with pain each day. So don't drink and drive with anyone or yourself!

Travelling to Houston because apparently my wife's friends are more important than my friends who invited us to Louisiana for the weekend.

Ah well, i like her friends and it will be some fun, games and a few beers(good beer, not that macro junk) and probably some fireworks ;)

Hopefully i wont blow anyone up lol

My (boyfriend?) and I were just discussing this morning what we feel like doing. At this point, we only know that we'll be together. First three options involve bars (our "home" establishment is having a party, and friends of mine in bands are playing two other places), the last is a party at a friend's house who we've not seen since high school. We'll probably end up there, being that the entire relationship thus far has involved "haven't (whatever) since high school". LOL

mmm with my limited local knowledge of the USA but knowing good bourbons come from the southern states, is not Louisiana a better bet over the oil capitial of the USA? I know I would go for the southern states, Lynchburg is my fun place for new year :)

Anyho have fun and a safe time.

    Tibbs sounds really good :)

Most probably the same as last year, getting drunk at home and playing on the Wii, this year my daughter and her partner are coming round so it'll be even more fun than last year, it's really good as you get more an more drunk you just can't seem to do anything properly on any of the games, and this year my daughter's bringing the Wii Fit board round to ours, so that should be good trying to ski and balance when we're drunk ! :-D

Actually, I might just watch a few movies and make it seem likes just another day. I'm boring.

Dont get me started on the Wii RJ, most of my bruises from 2009 have been from the Wii..... not a safe game when played with <10yr olds or >30yr olds ;)

Played with a beer or 10 would be hospital inducing!

Psst Halo... Bourbon mainly comes from one state... Kentucky. :-D But it is made in a few other states.

For New Year's Eve this year, I am treating myself to a bottle of 1999 Perrier-Jouet. :cool Gonna just chill at the house and watch my crazy redneck neighbors shoot fireworks. And take cover at 12:00, some idiots out here like to fire off a few rounds...

And I agree with the others: kids don't drink and drive! Call a cab, plan for a ride no, walk, sleep where you partied. Trust me, it is not worth it.

Just staying home with the gf since I wrenched my knee last Thursday and I'm not going to chance doing even more damage, OUCH that hurt and still does! Going to roast a duck, have some single malt and some friends will be over for a wee dram or two also.;) I'm getting too old to party anymore as it now takes me 3 days to get back to normal.:-D

If you can't make it from Tennessee to Louisiana in under eight hours, you're driving the wrong direction. ;) :-D

As usual, we'll be in bed long before midnight. But the crazies are sure to wake us up again with their stupid fireworks. If you can believe it, they are legal in our county just north of Houston. Dumb. Noisy.
Hopefully no bullets will hit our brick this year as in the past.

Yes, there are some idiots that shoot guns at midnight. No big deal if you have a section cleared off, and shoot into the ground, but some idiots shoot in the air, not thinking about the basic law that what goes up, must come down...

Depends somewhat on the gun. As a kid, we used to shoot 12 gauge shotgun straight up in the air and then stand in a shed to hear the bb's fall down.

Probably stupid anyway but boys will be boys, especially if you arm them with 12 gauges.

Sometimes I marvel that I even survived boyhood.

lol, if it was just bird shot, I would not mind. I have been 'shot' a few times with bird shot when dove hunting, no more painful than rain. But when the high velocity FMJ's start flying around, I get a bit nervous. :-D

Well, now himself is sick, so I may be either doing nothing or going out alone, depending on if it's the same plague my mother has or just a temporary cold. Bah.

roflmao OK, this is why stagehands don't make plans in advance. I am now working a game for our AHL team, and we'll go from there depending on what time I get out and how he's feeling. :-D

My social calendar is at the mercy of others! LOL

But, it's settled. Himself is no longer sick, but IS being a/an (insert appropriate word here...I can't pick one and couldn't use it if I could), so I'm working, then going out by myself to see a friend's band play.
