What's a .class file?

    In doing some file cleanup (searched for add...was looking for addresses...I found two strange files ending with .class.

    One was thread death.class (in folder Java/lang) and the other was Inet address.class (in folder Java/net).

    I don't know why these little oddities bother me so much, but when I happen upon something I can't understand, I like to learn about its use/necessity.

    they're part of a java applet. Java applets are programs that run in your web browser.
