What's better than a listserv?

Hi.

My boss recently asked me to go seek out the next generation of listservs.

He knows that listservs are popular with our association, but he doesn't want to fall in line. He wants the next new thing, to be ahead of the game.

Have any of you come across anything like this, a new cool communication tool like a listserv?

The only time I heard of listservs is when IRC is involved. Like the #dalnet listserv.

Unless I'm confusing this with something else.
