What's Going On With Ms Edge?

I've noticed recently when I run Glary Utilities that I'm told I need to close MS Edge before the cache can be cleaned. I attach a screenshot of the message (cf. GUMssg). Next, if I run CCleaner it tells me its cleaning up MS Edge (cf. CCMssg). It also takes a little while to do so.

I don't understand why Glary Utilities and CCleaner are doing this. My webbrowser is FF Mozilla. I don't use Edge; so, why may these two utilities giving me these messages?

Can't comment on Glary but in CCleaner you can customise what is to be cleaned. In Custom Clean have you removed all the ticks in Microsoft Edge and Edge Chromium? I guess Glary would have similar options.

Also check the setting in Microsoft Edge as it can run in the background and not shut down properly go into settings and type startup and you should see it.

I don't mind CCleaner and Glary Utilities cleaning these things up. After all that's their job. My question was why does Microsoft Edge need cleaning when I don't use it and why, if I don't use it, is Glary Utilities asking if it can close Microsoft Edge so it can clean the cache?

This is quite a recent phenomenon and I was, therefore, wondering if something on my PC is opening Microsoft Edge for some reason.
