What's going on with Trend Micro Housecall

I want to use Trend Micro Housecall. I don't think I'm infected with malware. I just want to run it as one of a number of checks to ensure I am malware-free.

As far as I can tell the only way I can get Trend Micro Housecall is if I say I like it on Facebook.

Is something deceptive taking me to a false site? Does Trend Micro really want us to say we like them on Facebook before we can use Housecall? If it is, I think it's rather pathetic that a corporation make us say we like them on a social network site prior to using their software.

    Ditto.

Just downloaded and ran House Call – Free Online Virus Scan

The only requirement was to accept the license agreement.
The FAQ says that it is browser independent.
I am using Opera ver. 11.64
The default setting is to run a Quick Scan which is what I did.
The scan took about 8 minutes and there were no problems.

P.S. system is Windows XP sp3

Just curious: where do you see that?

I searched for Housecall using the Google search engine (cf. "Search" jpg image). From the list of results found by Google I have been selecting the second one "HouseCall - Trend Micro" (cf. "Search Results" jpg image). When I select that option the window opens shown in the attached "Facebook" jpg image.

    Thanks for the screen shots.
There must be something different about the 'google' search from the Mozilla start page.

I used https://encrypted.google.com/, my usual search engine, with the same search phrase and got the results shown
    in the attached image.
The First one, with the beige background, is an advertisement which are common with google searches.

The first actual search result is obviously the home web site.
That is the link that I used last night to run the scan.
The second one, which is clearly indicated as facebook, goes to the same page that you provided.

Try using one of the prominent search engines directly instead of the Mozilla Firefox Start page.

I thought I was. Perhaps the default home page for Mozilla Firefox doesn't use the Google search engine as I thought. I'll use Google itself in future.

I have been thinking about this. I am confused. This is the only case where I have been misdirected to what on the surface appears to be the wrong site. I'm fairly sure that what you get on Mozilla Firefox is the Google search engine. It puzzles me why on this occasion only I have ended up in the "wrong" place.

I use WinPatrol and it, more often than not, gives the "green light" for the sites found by Google from my Mozilla Firefox home page.
