what's the best resolutio for seeing a movie in my pc

    if i want to see a movie im my computer what would be the best resolution for the movies. :)

    Anything you like. Assuming you mean desktop resolution. Most people would watch video's full screen and it will just stretch the video to match the screen when you go full screen. It won't actually matter if you're desktop res is 640x480 or 1600x1200.

    If you mean encoding video, that depends mainly on means of distribution. High definition stuff is usually encoded at 640x350, something in the 500x300 range or less is not uncommon though. DVD's are encoded at 720x480 I believe. Websites that stream video will go as low as 100x75. Of course none of this matters when playing it back. For viewing purposes you don't need to know any of this. It going to look the same no matter what you do to it(Well you could make it look worse if you reencode it, but that's about it :)).

    If you are watching a dvd, and your screen resolution
    is at 800x600 or higher, you will not lose any picture quality
    over what the dvd is capable of.

    I've had some experiences where watching movies -- especially those captured off of TV -- appear grainy or pixelated when displayed at high resolution, but are smooth and have better appearance at lower resolutions.
