What's using Windows Messenger?

I've got a hardware profile set up for playing UT2004 using the Super Tweak on www.blackviper.com , for some reason Windows Messenger fires up on boot (even though I've disabled it) and then I can't exit it because its "being used" by some application. I've got nothing running that might want it (no IE, no OE, nothing, as far as I can tell).

What actually uses Windows Messenger and how come I can't exit it?

 

The list of windows items that laods or uses MS is very long.

The easiest way to disable it permenantly is to just rename its Dir in program files, it will never load again. PLus if you really need it you know what you renamed it to run it from

According to this article, the Remote Assistance feature also uses Windows Messenger if that helps.
