Where can I get help with a MSOffice97 Excel ribbon problem [specifically with listing macros]? More info if that would help redirect me. Thanks. ...Robert

Office 97 uses toolbars, not ribbons.

Did you install some sort of addon to get ribbons?

What version of Windows are you running? Office 97 is not supported on XP or later. (see above link)

Thanks for your replies. Yes, it's a toolbar problem. I have many VBA macros for use with Excel in my home accounting and amateur radio activities. In Excel, I have created custom toolbars for each activity that "list" the macros to be used in that activity [ie, Rad Log for radio and ExpSav for finances].

I can right click in the Excel header area, and a table of the various standard toolbars is listed along with my two custom toolbars. When using the radio I click the RadLog toolbar and it shows up in the Excel header area as expected; all macros are listed and all work.

For financial work, same as above except the display of the ExpSav toolbar in the Excel header area is blank [no macros listed]. However - and here's the kicker - the macros are there [in the SS] and can be accessed by keyboard shortcuts that I have associated with the various macros. But try as I can, I cannot get the macro glifs to appear in/on the ExpSav toolbar. This is the problem. I think I clicked the wrong box when doing something somewhere that resulted in this mess. No idea what that may have been. Much thanks for your help. ...robert

When you run a version of software written years before the Operating system code was written, there is no telling what might happen.

I don't have Office 97 anywhere to even look.

You can try Office 2007, 2010 or 2013 which work on Windows 10, though 2007 and 2010 are no longer being patched.

    Plodr...
Please re-read my initial post wherein I asked for help in finding a site that might help with my way-out-of-date software problem. I did not expect direct help on MajorGeeks for the reason/s you cited. I was a bit surprised that you and others seemed to be willing to offer direct help on my antique software. As it is, I solved the problem myself [after many hours]: since the problem was one of display, I created a new toolbar and repopulated it with the macros that were safe within the SS. Now, everything is back to normal.

On the subject of upgrading, the main reason why I have never upgraded to a newer version of Office is that I have hundreds of lines of VBA with the MSW97 applications. No one has ever been able to say whether or not that code would port to a newer version. Since my simple needs do not require the features of the newer versions and since everything was working smoothly with the old version, I decided not to trust to luck and to stick with the older version. Also, note that here MSO97 has worked flawlessly on everything from W95 to W10 [for my limited set of needs].

At any rate, thanks for the nudge, and have a good day.
