where do i turn this "feature" off?

Its a javascript thing. Annoying, yes, but an advertizing deal. Spose you could disable javascript but obviously nothing else will work either

 

but its everywhere! not just mg, but other websites as well! and when my mouse accidentally moves over it a stinkin' pop-up window comes up. ahhh its driving me crazy! oh well, in the grand scheme of things, its nothing but a piece of lint.

 

it's the new thing.. some sites let you turn it off, but it's a javascript thing. You can't disable it on specific sites without
1. disabling js in your browser
2. having a site that gives you the option to.

MG doesn't have that option.

 

I don't see those..... it is a feature...just a sec I'll find it!

 

what are the popup windows? Are they related to the highlighted word?

 

I have neither the underlined words nor the popups in Firebird, but they're all over the place in MSIE. I have js enabled in FB, but FB has very sophisticated pop-up blocking, so mebbe that's the diff.

yeah, this is just one annoying advertisement "feature" that has placed on us. This one isn't so bad, just a little annoying. The worst is the full page ad that you get instead of the desired page. Its very bad on fileplanet.com.

 

hmmm...actually I don't have any of that on any browser I use: firebird, IE, Opera, Netcaptor. Let me see if ZA blocks that...yep my ZA with web filtering keeps that at bay...no wonder I have never had that irritating stuff on my screen! With that, I recommend ZA pro!

Its present in MyIE... and IE for me.

It is as Kodo said, it is javascript. I know this, because I just unregistered jscript.dll and voila!, the problem went away

No firewall is going to block something processed client side like selective portions of html or javascript.

For all the good stuff and help we get here in MG I cant complain about those popups.
They are so minor compared to the other kind.

 

It's not THE FIREWALL, ZA pro has web filtering, that is what blocks all the shiznit from poping up!

Well, since I DON'T use ZAP, and I DO have a popup-free (no highlighted terms) experience on the sites I visit in Mozilla Firebird, whatever that "Web filtering" may be (?) in ZAP, an equivalent is in Firebird. If you turn OFF your "Web filtering," Firebird will still block this script, and it does it with java and javascript enabled.

(I don't think I'd base my choice of firewall software on a feature that's built-in, in my browser of choice.)
