About a couple times a month, a VERY loud recording of a cat fight plays from my computer for about 2 seconds. It is so real that my real cats flip out and take off!

I have no idea what program is generating it! Any ideas??

Have you read the Major Geeks Malware Removal Guide? That would be my first idea, you should also take a look at what's in the task scheduler. If it only happens twice a month, there's a good chance that it's a scheduled occurrence. Also check your processes that are running right when you hear it (if possible).

My bad... I should have put a little more info. I run SpyBot and Ad Aware pretty much every other day.

I also use Housecall every couple of months as well.

    I also run Zone Alarm.

I don't think it is malware, but maybe some other program running with a setting that I have no idea about.

I was hoping someone would just recognize the cat screetch and know what it is or how to figure out where it is coming from when it occurs.

Scares the hell out of me!

    Are you running AIM?
When a friend enters, the sound they've chosen will be heard if you have AIM running in your tray.
