Where Is This Wireless Internet Coming From On My Laptop?

I borrowed a laptop from someone and took it home. To my surprise it automatically found quite a few wireless internet signals in my area. I live in an intersection where there is a strip of businesses and homes behind them. I've never used a laptop with internet before.

I'm just wondering how I can find out where the signals are coming from? Because two of them are unencrypted... & I'm able to use them without a problem. The thing is I don't want to be using someones home net when they don't know about it in my area. If it were a business and I find out which one than that's different. Because they may have it unencrypted for all to use.

Is there a way using software or any web application to find out where these wireless internet signals are coming from exactly? [ie: exact pinpointed location]

Because if I can get free net I'll buy a laptop myself!

you can use netstumbler and walk around to see where the signal is strongest if you want. a type of "wardriving" if you will. you can even hook up a gps and plot APs on a map if youre into that sort of thing.
easy to just call the businesses that could be a possibility and ask.
