Just wondering, other than ebay, if anyone knows where to buy a good, 3 year old or so computer, homebuilt. Ive seen deals like this one, on ebay Asus seems to be the only good MBs. No Gigabyte, nuthing. and I know alot of computer junkies build and sell their old toys at a huge loss, because they start causing clutter:-D This forum doesnt have a for-sale section.

This looked like a pretty good buy for the price, with Win7.

TBH when you look at the cost of new PCs that have been pre-built I dont really see why you would want a 3-4 year old PC? I cant see the PC you linked to as Ebay is banned at my work but you can get new laptops/netbooks for £300 and I expect you could get a complete desktop for similar price... goes to google...

You could probably put another GB of RAM in for £30 and you will have a brand new system with full warrenty

Its a flying pc. :p For $250 that looked like a decent PC, I just want full ATX so I could upgrade the RAM to megaram, keep up with next O/S, do virtual o/s stuff. I'm not gonna game with it. I want a desktop. And its just $150.00 more than buying the Win 7. I dont want no acer computer...this was an Asus MB with good perifs! :wave

You wont need full ATX to do any of the upgrades you want although the PC on ebay was higher spec than the one I linked too but it did not appear to have a monitor keyboard mouse etc with it.

Yea, this is America, you can go to any University campus and get $1000.00 computers in the trash if you wanna dig, at the end of the year. It ALL goes! Bikes, computers, TVs, furniture, pot, cars, girlfriends etc..

"I donate my stuff, maybe check in your local area."

Its a giant junkyard, if you live in an upper middle class area! Do you have 'freecycle' in England?

Freecycle is the way to go if you can do it. I arrived in America with sweek fuk all to be brutally honest. All I had was two bags and a few hundred dollars and my then soon to be wife. My first washer/dryer was from free cycle! In return when I got on my feet i donated tv's, computers, monitors all kinds of stuff I didn't need anymore and stuff that didn't need to go to the landfill.

An option for those on the other side of the water if you can do it. Have a friend, maybe someone going to the US on holiday buy you a laptop or even tower and bring it back for you. The cost of computer equipment over here is nothing next to what I used to pay back home. I bought a laptop here on newegg.com brand new laptop a year and a half ago, HP dual core AMD chip, Radeon 4200 graphics, 3GB RAM and 250GB HDD for $450 no tax and free postage.
