Hey all. Over summer i'm going to have a lot of spare time on my hands... so I was thinking "Hmmm why not learn a computer language" I have decided i'm going to try to learn HTML. I'll start out small. Thing is... I have no idea where to start. What do I need to learn this? Any cheap programs out there? Are there any REALLY good websites that can teach you HTML?
    Thanks guys.

http://www.w3schools.com is an excellent site to learn.

I do want to be very clear on one thing though, HTML is not a programming/computer language.

Please Try This if your going to practice HTML!!!

I learned HTML in like a week just by going on websites. In fact I believe I went on www.htmlgoodies.com once or twice. But if you are going to start making HTML files I would recommend ACE HTML 6.x. This program comes as a freeware although some of the things are limited (you won't even notice them since I haven't noticed anything limited and I use it all the time. Mostly the stuff limited is like for loading your files to FTP servers for making websites so you don't have to worry about that.) The program can be downloaded for www.download.com and if you have a hard time finding it on there go google it.

The reason I enjoy ACE HTML so much is that it comes with a large amount (around 100) free example codes such as scripts and buttons. I would recommend using these at first to make a decent page (otherwise your pages will just be text :p.) As you use this code look it over and examine the basics and structures of it. Then tear it apart and customize it with your own text and variables and such. Soon you should be able to write your own scripts and pages without the help of the program. Believe me, I know almost 5 computer languages and the best way to learn is by example.\

I hope that you have a good time learning more about HTML and some day maybe you can make your own webpage. If you do you will have to show me it someday. You are welcome to IM me or send me an email regarding any questions or comments you have. Thank you for reading this post.
