Where to?

I bought a Vista home premium 32 bit by accident? And want the 64 bit because my com is wanting that OS, And I do not want to buy another! Where can a person download a 64 bit version? And I read some other threads that told us we could use our key from the 32 bit to activate the 64 bit version,is this true?

 

do you really need a 64bit os? unless you're using some software that really needs it, im sure you can get by with the 32 bit version...

 

You would'nt know how much that would cost would you? In the states? USA

 

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have some really nice games I cannot use with 32 bit architecture. And I just bought this com for that very reason.

 

Yes,My com is bran new and I have all the drivers for 64 and the entire com was built for that. I will digg up my games and let you know. But on the realistic side,I was given most of these games by a friend and I was told that most of them were not compatable with the system I had. So I checked a few out on an older system I had, and sure enough they would not work. But taking into consideration the fact I was only running 512 ram? they surely would not work anyway. So I packed them away for a time when I could get a system that would handle them. And have it now,just screwed up and got the wrong os. But I did try the Linux 64 bit Sabayon which is Linux's answer to windows media center and found it to be quite impressive as a gaming os! But even with 4 giggs of ram found it hogging all the braodband? And slowing the com. Now thats useing wifi! Wifi being my only option at this time. Not cable or fast dsl. I am sure those would make it run lightning fast and make the games even on the playing field over the web with friends. But found the linux product to be limited as to other uses. And with my very limeted knowledge, hard to make work,and navigate. Now I do believe that the 64 may be lacking in these areas also useing wifi but! Having the use of the other half of my cpu would greatly increase the funtionability,and would free up the rest of my ram in windows. If I am not just blowing smoke? The 32 bit only allows so much of the ram to be used, and won't allow multitasking. Let me know if I am on the right trak. Thank you for the insight and all the help. I am just a novice, but learning all I can.

 

I tried the microsoft site and followed the instructions without being able to get what I needed? And I tried 5 times different ways so that option is out? But thanks anyway.
