Where's my safe mode?

When i try to boot in safe mode ,Xp does the basic driver for a sec then stops and restarts and goes back to booting in regular mode? Never seen this before?? I've seen it take awhile but not just stoppong and booting back to regular mode? anyone got any suggestion?

only shows 7.8G 2nd HD (lost 22g's???)

Likely a corrupted driver.
Do you know WHICH file it restarts on?

If so, we could use recovery console to replace said file, and see if that helped our situation.

If not, probably a repair install would be advisable.

 

i would rather do that, the reinstall of XP but it's my buddys comp and he don't want to do that since he don't have the Xp disk. But I could use mine but his number right? but that's a different story. hope it's a driver ,i can fix that.???

 

Like I said, if you know the specific file, the first thing I would do is to use recovery console to try replacing it with a good version from disc. If you're not sure how, then check the link I provided.


And yes, if you have a installation disc, you can legally install using his license key. Just so long as they are the same product, you're fine. I suggest the repair install before the clean install, as the repair install should leave his files intact.
