I'm new here. I read someone else's post that a certain beta program (which I had just downloaded) was slowing his system. Then I read a warning about using Beta programs; but they are everywhere now. My questions is, why aren't beta programs identified by MajorGeeks? and if they are-where am I missing that info? Thank you, confused newcomer

    Hi and welcome.

Beta programs are identified. For example; google Chrome- http://majorgeeks.com/Google_Chrome_BETA_d6246.html

If you click on the link you'll notice 'beta' in the title. Which program are you referencing?

Beta programs are fine to use, but they are in the test stages and can often times have numerous bugs. If you are not comfortable working with that, I would suggest that you stick with final release products.

Wow, thank you. I was referring to Advanced Care and Malware Bits. Advanced Care was great which is why the subsesquently viewed email surprised me. Do I wait for problems or let well enough alone for these two? I will look for the "beta" in the address line from now on. Thank again...

Are you talking about Advanced SystemCare by IObit and Malwarebytes?

I'm not sure which thread you are referring to, but neither of those are Beta. If you aren't having any issues with them, I'd continue to use them if you like them. A lot of times, issues aren't necessarily the software's problem, they are a system compatibility or user issue. One person can have absolutely no problems while another just can't get something to work correctly.

Welcome to MG goatnote:wave Listen to LauraR, and check out the links she provided.. Have a look around, and enjoy. Just because one person has issues with a program, doesn't mean everyone does. ;) Every computer is as individual as people are. ;)

Yes, Advanced SystemCare and MalwareBytes. Thank you, learned something from each of you and understand.
