I want to add memory I'm current using DDR 333 (DDR PC2700 333MHz MUSHKIN GREEN LINE) a local computer store told me that DDR PC2700 333 MHZ MUSKIN BLUE LINE is the best. Another local computer store told me that Kingston is the best. Both of the aforementioned come with a 3 year warrenty from Totally Awesome Computers.

Can some one give me a 1010 and a 2010 class on how to choose memory. The price has gone back up, I want good memory, but I do not want to pay top dollar. Also, Office Depot has PNY Memory for a little more than the Muskin blue line.

What you ussaly look for in RAM is the timing latency; memory bandwidth and maker. if you go to websites like newegg.com n such they show you the specifics of each ram; look ram sticks that cost 30$ more and they 'seem' the same as another stick from the same comany, same amount of ram, and same speed. This ussaly means they its a higher grade ram that has more bandwidth and faster timings (example Value ram vs Hyper X or Ultra series). Having the latter ram ussaly improves performance by a noticable diffrence and is more reliable then the "value" ram for a couple of bucks more.

Edit also check the prices online first before you buy at a store they have a more reasonable price range then the diffrent stores since their employees and rent etc affect price.

    PNY is garbage ram.

If I was buying ram, I would look into the OCZ EB (Enhanced Bandwidth) series.

Thing is, OCZ EB ram is only PC3200 and up:

Looking at the price however, I would probably go with Mushkin.

Just don't ever go with PNY.

Thank you! This helps. Locally the price is $120.00 for 512 of DDR 333 Mushkin Blue. The 512 I have in the computer now is Mushkin basic. If I add DDR PC2700 333 MHZ MUSKIN BLUE LINE, should I change the other stick also, or will the two work ok together?

Remember, your ram will only work as fast as the slowest piece.
Thats a pretty good price for Mushkin Blue Line, especially locally.

Is Mushkin a brand of Kingston? Here is the web page for totally awesome computers
http://www.totallyawesomecomputers.com/pricelist.htm Of the choices of DDR 333 which would you recommend? I have an MSI MB (KT 4 Ultra SR 6590) the manuel states the 333 is ok, and that some 400 will work but MSI will not guarentee 400
