Which Free Firewall For Home Network ???

I currently have Zone Alarm free firewall on a home Network, it is too unflexible for my requirements. Second PC, connected via Network cable is not able to access Internet when Zone Alarm Firewall is activated....

Am i doing something wrong or is there a more flexible one available for free ???

 

Are you connecting two computer to a single router or are you connecting one compiuter to the internet and shareing that connection with the other computer?

edit... If your using a router, what brand is it?

 

Sharing i think, one of the PC's is connected to a 'set top box' (UK broadband) and the other PC is connected to that one with a network cable in network cards..

 

OK, I'm not sure what your 'set top box' is but if it connects to the internet by use of a broadband connection, you should be using a router for security reasons. then both computers would connect directly to the internet through the router.

As far as your current setup you need to determine the IP address of both machines and tell Zone Alarm to allow access between these machines.

to get your IP address go to Start-> Run-> cmd and press enter. type ipconfig and press enter. write down the IP Address.

Then open Zone Alarm and go to the Firewall tab on the left, then go to the Zones on the upper right then click the Add button in the lower right and Add IP Address. On each computer, add the other computers IP address in Zone Alarm and click the apply button. You should then be able to communicate between the 2 computers.

I'm not having much luck so i'm gonna uninstall ZA and install Kerio on both.

 

Running Kerio on both PCs now, its alot easier to configure than ZA. Keep getting reports of 'remote computer trying to access via file and printer sharing' but i dont allow them and everything seems fine.

Certainly, i don't think 'Giant'(one of the links) is available as they were bought by Microsoft but there is a few extra to add to the collection. I will put all the recommended Malware on a disc, for emergencies.
