The big question is, what do you plan on using it for (movie editing, or game play)?

the 6800 is better by a bit. The GPU is more advanced, simple as that.

from those few reviews, the 6800 looks to be a bad overclocker, but likely you dont intend to overclock it anyway.

I want it for gaming, no movie editing at all. I am just worried, because the core clock for the 6600 is 500 mhz, while the 6800 is 325 mhz. I am unsure which is better, because i am unsure whether the core clock matters so much. Thanks.

you cant really compare the clock speeds of 2 different GPUs, they each run differently and are built to function best at certain speeds. although the speeds are lower, the 6800 is a vast improvement over a 6600gt, mainly because of the extra 4 pixel pipelines and 256 bit interface.

    Thanks so much.
Also, you mentioned Pixel pipelines, and 256 bit interface.
I was wondering what exactly those effect, and what they are.
    Thank you again.

I looked up pixel pipeline, and it is a video card part that transfers pixel information. The more pixel pipelines, the faster the video card can process pixels.
But i could not find the Bit interface part. Please elaborate on that.
    Thanks.

I would go 6600gt or move up to a 6800 ultra, you wont see much difference between those 2 cards. My 6600gt performs well in most new intense games at med settings 1280x1024. studders a little bit ijn Quake 4 but it is easily playable, I get around 35fps on low settings.

basically, the higher number the faster information can get transferred between the card and the rest of the computer. Think of it as a highway, the more lanes, the faster and more cars can go, same with information.
