Well I have Cyberscrub but it's purpose is mainly to securely delete files in your rubbich bin. The mailware/spyware sticky has an excellent app callled CCleaner which is the safest cleaning app I have used.

There is also RegCleaner here (use with caution). If like me you test apps and uninstall and install a lot of them then Your Uninsatller! 2006 is brilliant and cleans out all the registry files as well (which most app uninstallers and Windows leave behind) 21 day trial.

    CCleaner!
    Yes, yes yes!

If you use the Issues tab just make a backup.
I've been using CCleaner for over 2 years with NO problems!
If you get it, watch the installation and if you DON'T want the Yahoo! Toolbar...UNCHECK it.

    :D

    Ccleaner all the way!
I've used it for about a year and it works great.

Hi iv been looking for a good hard disk cleaner also, does Ccleaner really erase all traces from the computers register PERMINANTLY! I was going to buy Evidence eliminator or Cyberscrub, Is Ccleaner just as good ? Thanks.

CCleaner has overwriting features and you can set the level (5 D.O.D,7,9 etc) etc and is similar to Cyberscrub in that respect, apparently, but how do you know if any of these app are trully working they may just goad you into a level of false sense of security. So what you really need to do is try one on a specfic file and then use a "deep HDD searching tool" and see if indeed you can find any traces. langa.com was talking about such tools recently to try and restore deleted/overwritten files.

Thanks Bold Eagle I will look into that, but I was also wondering if after doing a complete system recovery any files and stuff can ever be recovered ? I had to do this the other day because I had that PWSTEAL.METAFISHER virus that I just could not get rid of even with norton and defender. Norton couldnt even find it after doing a full scan, and defender could find it but for some reason couldnt delete it. But after doing the sys recovery it seems like my computer is as if it was brand new, is this true ?

I can't answer this as I will get beyond my depth but check with people in the mailware/spyware as they are the most experienced in this area, THEY ARE THE VIRUS AND SPYWARE GURUS, absolute champions.
