Which is better?

ASUS-V9480-Ti4800 128MB-8X OEM or CHAINTECH FX5500-256MB TV-OUT

I was told that the ASUS is much better. I would like to hear your advice. I have both, not sure which one I am giving to my sister, the other I am keepng.

if its not a 5200 then your fine, keep the 5500

 

Are you sure about that? Do you know where I could find the benchmarks? I paid 95 for the Chaintech and 120 for the ASUS, the distributor told me that the chipset in the ASUS was much better.

 

SOrRY, but I have to bump this. DO you know where I can find a comparison on these? I tried Toms, but it looked Latin to me.

 

The chipset is governed by nVidia, not the manufacturer ....

But the 5500FX chipset is faster than the 4800 Ti chipset on paper... but I'm not sure about real life benchmarks.

I can't find any benchmarks to state either way... it all depends what you're doing with the card. (DirectX 7, 8, even 9, OpenGL...)

 

Yea on paper. hehe I had an Asus Ti4200 128meg & in alot of the reviews I've read about the card was that it can perform alot better in certian situations. I guess which is better would depend on what you are gonna be doing with it.

If you will be playing games that require DirectX 9, I would keep the FX5500. I do believe it is DX9 capable.

I currently use a ti4200 and love it but the fan is giving me problems. I am using it for gaming and gaming. Mostly ut2004.
