Which is the better value?

I am trying to decide which is the better value between two systems:

AMD Sempron 3000+ 1.8 Ghz
1 GB RAM
80 GB HDD
cost: $358.20 Cdn ($319 US)

- or -

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.2 Ghz
1 GB RAM
250 GB HDD
cost: $549.00 Cdn ($489 US)

(All other system specs are identical)

Does the performance jump of the Athlon 64 3200+ and an extra 170 GB hard drive space justify the additional $191 Cdn ($170 US)? Putting aside my actual computing needs, am I getting a much better deal with one or the other?

Any thoughts?

Sempron is AMD's entry-level desktop CPU, replacing the Duron processor. So your looking at apples and oranges performance wise. If you want to do video, games and other processer intensive tasks, you do not want an entry level chip, for me I only use those for basic web surfers and email readers. So, your answer is a no brainer:

1 is entry level and slower chip.
Other is higher end AND faster.

Athlon 64 3200+ hands down. 170 bucks is a big jump, but so is the performance.

the sempron is the low-end part of amd, go for athlon 64, also, the athlon64 will be faster overall, but not only that, also, when vista (or other x64 os'es) are released, the sempron will only work in x86 modus (32bit) and the athlon64 will work in x64 modus (64 bit) so the athlon64 is the one you can have longest without upgrading, point 2: today, 80gigs or hdd really isn't enough, go for the 250 gig one
