Refurbished PCs generally have more problems than new PCs. If the unit was returned due to an intermittent problem (freezing up, overheating, etc.) it may not have been repaired properly. In addition, most refurb units only have a 90 day warranty (versus one year for a new PC).

I'd pay a little extra and get a new one with at least a one year mfr. warranty.

I'm in agreement with gman. I buy refurbed Dell desktop computers for my husband but this company is local and an authorized Dell refurbisher. If something goes wrong, it is very easy to contact them (nothing has ever gone wrong). Plus a desktop is easier to swap out parts.
I would not consider a refurbed laptop.
