    Hi all.
Mate of mine is wanting a laptop.
I'm a bit behind on it all as i've had mine for a couple of years and my pc is about 4 years old.
    He is looking at this

but I think the processor is a bit sluggish.
If he sacrifices the 8gb of RAM and the 1TB HDD he could have this for the same money.

I don't think the HDD is an issue as the more room you have the more clutter you keep and the RAM could be upgraded at a later date if needed.

Am I as clever as bunch of grapes or am I as thick as a thick sliced loaf?
    Cheers.

Toshiba has been having some really great deals. As for 8gb RAM, that is a lot of RAM for every day computing, but just right if running Windows 8 on the new machine. My son & I both have Toshiba Satellite C850x-stnx3 series laptops, his with 16gb, mine with 8gb, and have no problems doing movie editing, and other stuff.

I have had HP gear in the past, but really like the Toshiba stuff of late, especially the Satellite series. Both the HP you linked, and the comparable Toshiba are at the same price from what I saw, at http://www.toshiba.co.uk.

I really don't trust Acer any more. They have a poor reputation for quality and I have had bad experiences with their kit as well.

Have you considered a custom build? PCSpecialist.co.uk can make you a custom laptop that might well cost less than on the high street for a spec that you want.

Please note this is not a paid advertisement, I am just a happy customer.

    Hi Collins.
It's not for me and the person that wants it isn't likely to want to go down the select your spec route.
It's difficult to know who to trust but I have had my Acer lap top for a couple of years, my two daughters and my wife's friends two kids have both had Acers, no problems thus far.
My one daughter works in retail and she said the lap tops they have returned most are HP so who knows?
It's a minefield out there!! :confused
