From just looking at the specs the 7950 has 10mhz more processing pwr.

Maybe go w/ this one. What are you going to be playing?

I personally do not like the xfx cards. I installed quite a few of them for customers and have had to add fans to the heatsinks because they would overheat from normal use. They weren't even playing games. The cards didn't come w/ fans on the heat sinks, but I bet I could grill a steak on them after they ran for a couple hours.

Hi. Firstly both of these card have fans on them, im unsure about on the heatsinks or not.

I will want to be mainly playing World Of Warcraft, both these cards will easily meet the specifications for this game that I know. I want something that dosent just play the game though. I want it to play well with no lag or distortion in the graphics.

However I more than likely will want to play other more modern games with more advanced graphics at some point and want to be sure my card will handle this sort of pressure too.

I seen that the first one seemed to have better specs. I just thought with the other card being newer it may be better in some ways. I have no clue about graphics cards to be honest. Ive spent 3 days trying to read up on it but keep getting lost in the big words!

I am getting a desktop delivered very soon you see and within a week or two of getting it I intend to get a card for around the £100 mark. I just want to get the best i can for my money. I also understand I wont be getting the top stuff for that price! I dont want to be getting ripped because i havent done my homework!

Any and All Advice is Appreciated. ;)

The only difference I can see is that the 8800 series is DX10 compatible. If you are going to use vista and dx10 the this is the piggy for you. Also if your going to do sli , they should both work out ok.

I will be getting a Vista system, so I would be better to go for a dx10 card then I think.

When buying a card, does it matter which company you buy from?

For example Ive just been looking at NVIDEA GeForce8600GTS cards. And noticed there are Innovision GeForce8600GTS, Sparkle GeForce8600GTS etc etc.

I mean is it best to buy a NVIDEA one, or is it just the same to buy one of another company? Do they all use the same drivers etc?

    Thanks ;)

The company usually matters only in considering bundling and how far they push the card, and yes nvidia uses one giant driver for all its cards.

i LOVE XFX cards, ive never had one single problem with them, their customer support and warranties are awesome, and they are the fastest cards out there. the XXX versions are clocked significantly higher than their counterparts so id check them out. BFG and eVGA make very good cards as well
