Which Pentium is better?

I was wondering if someone could tell me which processor is better, the Pentium 4 or D? From the research i've done I believe that a Pentium D is better, but I would like the opinions of others.

 

pent d is better (socket 775 verus older socket 478)

 

ok thanks, i heard that the pentiums are actually supposed to be better then the new core series, is that true?

 

no I use the new core series (core 2 duos/quads) they outperform the pentium d's by quite a margin. I noticed a difference going from pentium d 930 to the q6600 quad. the new chips really perform well and heat is way down too. Great for gaming also and multi tasking
