which processor is the best

Hi,

I am trying to buy a new computer but don't know which processor to go with - Intel or AMD. The machine will not be a gaming machine and will be used for CAD, graphics and multimedia/multitasking.

Thanks. It was what I was coming round to thinking but every time I look at computer company sites each one has a 'fastest ever' machine and they all run on different processors! I think I will go for the duo core 2 6700 becasue the top of the range one does not appear to justify its premium with the very slight increase in power.

 

Thanks - I was planning on getting a 512MB graphics card and 2mb of ram. If I can push the budget I may go for 4mb of ram!

Naw, j/k. Those are expensive. But you can't go wrong with... 256 Intel Itanium 2 CPU's and... 3TB RAM... and... uhh... 96 PCI-X slots...
