Which realtime program do you recommend?

Hi,

I'm running XP HE, with Zone Alarm free and Avast! AV, which I'm both pleased with.

I'd also like a realtime anti-spyware/trojan scanner - I was thinking of purchasing Adaware SE Plus, but I'd like a few opinions before I part with almost $40

If I could take liberties whilst I'm here, I'm also looking for a programme which would copy my C drive so that in the event of HDD failure, I could then restore it. I've heard Norton Ghost is very good, though tricky to use, but I'm a little reluctant to use any of their products after having had a bad experience using their security software!

I've just downloaded and run the programme for the first time - the scan results box refused to close and I had to do this via the task manager... then the CPU hit 100%... I know it's a beta version so I'll persevere with it

If you want real-time protection aimed at "internet threats" to complement your anti-virus, I recommend one of these:
Malwarebytes' anti-malware
A-squared anti-malware
SUPERAntiSpyware

Don't buy Ad-aware. It used to be one of the best, but hasnt kept up lately.
Also, if you're using Avast AV and are happy with it, there's no need to switch. Avast is one of the best free AV's out there.

EDIT:
Btw, you can test A-squareds real-time protection for free for 30 days. If you like it, go for it. If not, consider purchasing MBAM or SAS instead.
I personally found a-squared too resource hungry and went with MBAM instead.

its free, has an immunization feature, auto-update settings, auto-scan settings, an optional web guard and integrates with clam anti-virus
never had a problem with it
