Hi, I'm Pete and brand new to Geeks. Reason I'm here is that Tweaknow, which I usually trust, has just found 23 registry errors. Is this likely? My PC is a bit slow, but otherwise seems okay. Anyone got any ideas?

23? Is that all? I ran regseeker and it found over 1200 problems in my registry. 23 is hardly anything to worry about.

No registry cleaner is completely safe. Be careful what you delete. Always make a backup of the registry in case something gets deleted that shouldn't have been, you can always restore the registry.

I use CCleaner, fairly safe, it makes a backup of any deleted registry entries in case something goes wrong.

I also use Regseeker, a bit more thorough than CCleaner, but also can cause more problems than CCleaner if you're not aware of what you're doing.

Basically I use a registry cleaner to remove left over entries from programs I have uninstalled.

May I suggest a program called "Erunt". Just goolge Erunt to download. Erunt is great for backing up the registry. Has saved my butt on a number of occasions. I have Erunt programed to backup my registry at each daily boot.
Should you need to restore the registry, Erunt does it with ease.

Again, don't trust any registry cleaner to be completey safe. Study the registry and it's workings and always make a backup. Know what you are deleting.

What I have posted is just my opinion, others may disagree.

I use RegCleaner, CCleaner's registry cleaner, and RegSupreme Pro to clean my registry. I make backups with those programs, and I use Erunt to make once a week backups. Plus I have System Restore on with weekly backups. My pc operates without a hitch. (most of the time)

    Welcome to MG:)

I've been using Tweaknow for long time never had a problem

    As for Slow puter
Over time PC fills with Sheet.
Delete cookies, temp files, ETC. also check for spyware/viree etc. then Defrag

Sometime's there's nothing like a Format and brand new fresh install of Windows

Thanks a million for the helpful suggestions. I already had Erunt, so it seemed the pro way to go. Must say things are somewhat faster now.

I used CCleaner and found 400 problems on a brand new XP pro installation. This program also removed 40 mb or so of crap that Windows stuck me with.
