Which security apps to keep?

I just completed the malware removal, but I have a lot of security applications running, and I'm not sure what to keep and what to remove. I'm running Vista. From the malware forum I got the following reply:

I have uninstalled Spybot. I tried to find ZoneAlarm Anti-Spyware but it says it isn't even installed, so I don't quite understand what is going on.

Should I disable Windows Defender, and how do I do this?

    Thanks!

Don't really care for most of your selection.Matter of taste, maybe.
    My personal choice is
    Comodo firwall
    Avira AntiVir
    SuperAntiSpyware
    MalwareBytes
    SpywareBlaster
    WinPatrol
Should be able to disable or remove Defender. Right click on its icon in the TaskBar.To remove, go to Add/Remove programs.

With Windows I like Online Armor Free as a firewall, and Avast Home as an Anti Virus. MalwareBytes is good for a scanner, but better when purchased as real time security.
SpyBot is good for free active protection, and one of the first of its kind. I use Windows Defender on Windows 7 only, and avoid Zone Alarm. AVG is good, but usually on the PC with the virus/trojan/rootkit that needs exterminating, as of late.

Sandboxie, and many other software items are available for security, but you might want to try a Linux live CD or two if you worry about the seamier side of the web fogging up your Windows. And possibly use a router between your PC and the WWW.
I try to use Windows for secured connections only as a rule :major, and Linux for the click and go side of the internet.rolleyes

Click and go? As in "the Dark Side".

Click and go, as in don't worry about a reformat and reinstall. Don't worry if your Java is out of date, don't worry about WPA, don't worry about the occasional drive by or "throw down".

If you want to have an omelet, you'll need to break some eggs.
