Should I get my network+ or would it be better just start getting my MCP certs for a MCSE? Which will I learn more from achieving in the short term?

Depends on what you want to achieve.

We have a guy at work, who got his network+, then immediately started studying for his cisco cert, and passed it.

Well, I already have my A+. I'm damn good with desktop units, but I know that now you need to have your networking down pat to get a job (Right now, I'm doing phone tech support for a sign company, which isn't what I want to be doing exactly.)

Either are just stepping stones...you arent going to see a large amount of jobs open up for you witjh network + anymore than you did A+. Same with MCP.

Like A+, both are very general certs, and once again, like A+,they don't contain anything that an employer couldnt provide in training in just a couple of weeks.

As mentioned, it depends on what you want to do. MCP will have more overall value for troubleshooting Windows, Net+ will give you a small stepping stone towards a network admin job.

your ccna is whats going to get you noticed more than net+ if youre going for a network admin job.
