Which Software to Image Drive C to an External HD?

    I would like to purchase the Seagate FreeAgent Desktop 500 GB 7200/USB2 External Hard Drive. I understand it comes with it's own installed software.

    My question is this:
    Can I use the FREE Acronis Version 8 and/or the FREE SyncBack to create an image of my C Drive? I need an EASY software to do it since I'm still a newbie.

    Any advise/replies/recommendations appreciated! Thank you.

    Windows XP - Browser Firefox 2
