isn't the fan suppose to blow the air AWAY from the cpu, and not ONTO the cpu? i noticed as i was messin with the video card that there are two fans, one on the case itself blowin INTO the case through a lil tunnel like thing to the cpu fan which is blowing the air onto the cpu. basically takin air from outside the case and blowin it on the cpu? isn't it suppose to go the other way? blow the hot air INSIDE the case to the outside?

sry for all my new threads, im just a person that likes to make sure everything is workin right, so i ask a lot of questions. thnx for all your help tho :)

Actually, its both! U should have fans pulling cool air into the case and fans blowing hot air out! Generally, the accepted method is to pull air in at the front bottom and out at the back and top. But this depends on your specific setup. You should experiment on what works best for your system. Do you have a temp monitoring program?

ok, but the cpu fans are blowing the air ONTO the cpu. like theres a fan on the case, that has a tunnel like thing hooked up to it to direct the flow of air to the fan thats actually on the cpu heatsink. you would think that it should take air from inside the case and suck it thru the heatsick and then throught the tunnel thing to the outside right?

Not always, you did say this was an HP system in a different thread right? A lot of these oem systems have setups like you describe.

If your room is warm aren't you just blowin warm air into the case, whats the point of that? or am i bein dumb?

yeah its a hp system(the last one i will ever buy). ok, no i dont have a temp monitoring program. what is a good(free) one to download?

yeah the room does get a lil warm at times specially where the computer is located at under my desk in a lil cubby hole, but i took the side panel off so it coudl breathe a lil better, the hard drives sure like it better cuz they dont get near as hot now.

Well there are a couple of programs out there, but you have to have temp probes on your motherboard for them to work. I doubt your Hp has them! :(

Fans always blow onto the cpu to dissipate heat, Case fans will have the front fans blowing in and the rear fans blowing out.

Yeah, the fan dissipates heat from the heatsink, and the case fans help remove that hot air from the case!
