Who is encrypting my emails?

Hello all,

I've been having a problem for a couple of months now with a client who uses LotusNotes and says that my emails / attachments come through in an unusable format (I use Outlook 2002 XP, avast! antivirus, and ZoneAlarm firewall). The client's IT dept. finally got back to him and said that my emails arrive encrypted, that it is not until they get to the inbox that they are decrypted, and that the antivirus (which is upstream from the inbox) can't handle the encryption. Their proposed solution was going into "Tools, Options, Security" and unticking "Encrypt contents and attachments for outgoing messages". The only problem is that that box wan't ticked in the first place. I don't think I'm encrypting the messages on my end. I contacted ValueWeb, which hosts my website, and they said their computers don't do anything that would encrypt a message or its attachments. Does anyone know what could be causing this? I don't know what to do short of switching to another email program. If that's what I need to do, can anyone recommend one?

mason.. does your host have webmail access? if so, try sending a mail from it to your client to see if the problem is sourced at the server or your email program..

 

OK, I sent an attachment from the web-based email and it went through fine. So the encryption must be occurring in Outlook, even though I am not checking the "encrypt attachments" box. Any ideas?
