I have the same problem. When I do pass someone I know I'll post it on the other thread (still not braggin of course). I notice our numbers are working their way down (or up, depending on POV).

My 1 Gig machine keeps getting 20000 WU jobs. Not complaining (OK, not much), but these suckers take around 2 weeks or more, and that running most of the time in the safe mode to keep it priority job (and with the video minimized).

My 2.4 Gig machine seems to be getting similar sizes, but can do them in about 5 days.

If I get a power hit the work is lost, only controlled shutdowns save it, that or quiting the job when I'm doing something adventurous. I might connect the 1 Gig machine to my BBS UPS yet. We had some intense storms move through this morning so I shut both machines down for a while. I'm not too worried about lightening damage, but power outages suck. Being in a neighborhood with underground wiring with the rest of the city being above ground is cool.

It's nice to be moving forward in the stats on the team front though.

TwistedID is my next target. Got a ways to go, assuming I ever catch him!

I'm not in the top 10 but my question for matt.chug is "what do you have under the hood?" 30K in a couple months? Took me 6 months at least.

I don't get on this forum much but I have been folding for about two years. Each time I get a new PC I add it to my "folding farm." So now I am up to 17 machines. People know I do this and give me their old machines. I fix them and add them to the farm.

I got one old HP server that has been running for about two months and has yet to complete the first task - a 20,000 wu task. So I do this for the fun of it. I have built a peer-to-peer network in my basement and just keep adding machines to it. Every three machines I add an UPS. In the winter the basement is cold and the machines are fine. This last summer the basement heated up. I am going to add AC vents next summer.

I started out shooting to be in the top five of our team. I made that a couple of weeks ago. Now I would like to make the top 2000 over all. I have a ways to go on that. :wave

All my machines are in my sig. I've just added the Mac Mini and the X1950Pro (which really churns out the WU's) but have been getting enormous WU's that cripple my 900 Athlon and XP1600 :( My points have halved in the past couple of months because of this. The main result being that I've taken the older PCs offline as they just can't cut it anymore.
F@H shooting themselves in the foot?

Do you have the older machines set up to take the smaller work units?
I do that on my 2 older machines - both 1 gig Athlons.

I've noticed no one really explained whom they are which is ok with me as we all seem to be on the same page concerning folding stat's.

I once had 7 computers crunching number(s) for "our" team, but alas many of then have just wore out from age.

I have a friend who is the administrator of a library and I really need to e-mail him the info on what Folding@Home is and perhasp the 20 some computers at his disposal may assist "our" team in the charts.

I noticed a comment about Folding@Home concerning the use of slower/less advanced cpu MHz and agree as the slowest computer I use now is a 1,000MHz which might put out 2 WU a week.

My 1 Gig Duron is lucky if it gets one out a week at 5000 WU, but it also has a older video card (3Dfx VooDoo 3000). Dunno if that makes a difference, but it might.

I work for AT&T as a manager. My group manages the Department of State's domestic voice and data networks. The engineers are all on site in DC and I work virtural from my house. I listen to 16 PCs all day long in my basement office. My wife thinks I should move the folding farm to some other place but I like being able to keep my eye on everything.

I have three PCs under 1 GHz that have been folding the longest. I will replace them when I fill up my two 8 port KVM switches. Four more PCs and I am maxed out. Then I will start replacing less capable machines.

I hear you, I've come around to thinking it's not worth a machine under a gig CPU. My laptop isn't worth the wear and tear either.

I've boosted my personal machine from 1900+ to 2500+, and was given a 500 (as opposed to 5000) WU job. I'm going to be curious what the percieved speed difference is going to be.
