Who's into Horror Films?

Just saw that Hostel is coming out in a month or so. Looks AWESOME! Also had a friend recommend Japanese Horror films. He says they blow american horry films out of the water by far. Any recommendations?

I haven't seen a horror flick since Polgergeist (admittedly, I was 7) that scared me at all.

 

Same with me. Had nightmares for a week!

 

I couldn't get into the bath tub without the shower curtain open first for a month.
Couldn't sleep with the closet door open or any stuffed toys near me.
Couldn't sleep with the the door closed.
Required night light for months.

That movie scared the piss out of me something fierce.

 

Japenise Horror films are pretty good , but Asian Horror is by far the best. The only Asian to English film I can think of at the moment is "The ring".

 

Nothing has bothered me since a 60's film called "Torso". All the new ones seem to be predictable, with little to no suspense!

Its not a supernatural horror movie like The Ring franchise, or a lot of those kind - but is apparently 'disturbing' anyway... Worth a look at if you're into that kind of thing I guess.

 

The ring was decent.. not really scary, but kind of creepy. I just think that horror flicks are having a harder time tapping into our innate fears these days..

 

This isn't realy horror but it's close and totaly sick "ichi the killer" I mean disturbing!!!

 

The Grudge, scares my daughter, and she is 17.

 

Thats on my friends list. Most of the ones he recommended are completely sick lol.

Mothman prophecy I thought was awsome,white noise if you tell the people who are watching its a true story and detune the TV afterward and pretend you cant fix it

I dream in color too and often they are lucid as well. I do have a habit of having nightmares after watching movies about the paranormal.. I hate those..

 

I saw the movies that inspired the ring (japanese) in a video store-
anyone think they're worth renting?

the gremlins and IT were the only movies that really gave me the willies.

Well, I know I went off pork chops for a looong time, eh! I every time I thought of a pork chop, I used to think of maggots and the chop coming alive and crawling by itself!

 

DEMONS remains one of my all-time favorites, though it might be a bit tame by today's standard . . . .

And you absolutely cannot beat the campy/schlocky stuff from Stuart Gordon like Re-Animator (+ its sequels) and From Beyond. Not particularly scary, but a helluva lot of fun!

 

I wish someone would make some movies based on Dean Koontz novels...love those books Always a bit of a mind bender....

 

They have made a few . . . . Some of his earlier (and IMO better) novels were made into movies years ago. I have seen a few newer novels made for TV.

John C. McGinley has been in a few Koontz movies and is great in them.

Saw 1 and 2 are pretty good. The Resident Evil movies are decent also.
Not that they really scared me, none of them do, I'm kind of immune to them but they do have gross scenes, lol!

 

Which is scarier the original amytiville or the remake?

 

That movie ruined me on clowns for life. Gotta love Spielberg flicks

I love scary movies, I am surprised no one has said the EXORCIST yet.
I saw that movie at the drive-in movies when I was 3 and I haven't been the same since

 

I didn't read them all but did anyone say Army of Darkness gotta be the funniest horror movie of all time and Shaun of the Dead runs a close second!
